Friday Favorites: Splurge vs Steal Edition

I admit it, I am a little aka VERY nosey when it comes to beauty products that others swear by. And of course, I have zero shame in admitting hours upon hours of research, online grunt work and yapping to friends on their top favs. So, I asked a slew of my friends/mamas to spill the beans on their favorite beauty buys from both ends of the spectrum—steals and splurges. Click through the items below and see why these ladies (myself included) can’t live without these high-low pairings.

SPLURGE

Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lip Cream "Country Star" ($22): This is the best peachy pink nude you will ever find. Goes on super smooth and worth every penny. This color was designed by the fabulous Melissa Schleicher who is Carrie Underwood's makeup artist. If it's good for Carrie's perfect pout, then it's good for me! My fav everyday lip wear.

Laura Mercier Primer "Radiance" ($33): I am sure if you've read some of my Friday Favorites before you are probably tired of hearing about this product, but honestly I keep talking about it because it is that amazing. You can literally wear this stuff with nothing else and look amazing all day. Plus, it is a great starter to your makeup routine. I always put this on before anything else as it truly gives a great glow to the complexion. It's also not gunky or heavy which I like because your skin can breathe.

HD Invisible Cover Foundation ($42): This concealer is ah-ma-zing! There is something about cheap concealer that has always smelled weird and made me break out, so I always opt to splurge on this beauty bit.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector™ Pressed ($38): This, again, is another frequent Friday Favorite of mine becuase it is flat out amazing and lasts forever. A highlighter/blush/eyeshadow  in one...you can wear this with the primer above or use it as a highlighter for a full makeup effect. I learned about this product from a makeup artist and am a total believer in all BECCA products now. TIP: You can use a dab on this on your lips with some gloss for a fuller looking pout!

Stila Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner ($20): As many times as I've gone the drugstore route with liquid eyeliner, I always come back to this. It's just that good. Want to do a cute cat eye/winged liner look but you end up painting your whole eye black? Maybe that's just me....but when I found this liner all of that changed. It awesome, easy to use, and lasts all day.

Beauty Blender ($19.95): Whenever I would hear about this blender I used to think it was all hype, until I tried it! I mean, how could a silly looking sponge actually change the way makeup mixes and absorbs onto your skin... well it changes it beautifully! I can not put any concealer (or anything liquid for that matter) on my face without this. Plus, if you wash it after every use it will last at least 6 months!

SAVE

Almay Clear Complexion Concealer ($5.49): I love this concealer for many reasons. First, my good friend The Gloss Guide who always looks amazing told me about it. Second, if your a mom (or a working woman on the go) it will save you loads of time! Third, it's truly a great product and lasts throughout the day. This wouldn't be the concealer that I would wear at night or to events, but it is the concealer I wear daily. And lets be real, I tend to do more running around during the day then I do at night now that I am 30 and have a 1 year old! So I definitely get more bang for my buck here.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Cleansing Wipes for Acne Prone Skin ($6.99): I love a good cleansing wipe. I'll use them after a workout (no more breakouts from gym sweat!), as a makeup remover, to clean the spit up off my shirt... you name it! They are compact to easy to carry in your purse, diaper or gym bag!

Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser ($14.74): I've been using this cleanser since I was 15 years old and it has held as a staple in my shower and bathroom for the past 15 years. It just works, simple as that. I never spend a ton on cleaners because this does the trick.

Maybelline - Lust for Blush ($5.49): This is my go to pink color for the lips! It's silky smooth, plus it's a exact same color as MAC's "CremeCup", but a good $20 cheaper!

NYX Blush Powder - Terra Cotta ($4.99): Any quick search and you will quickly find how great this blush is. It's another "twin" for a lot of Mac and NARS bronzer/blush shades, without the hefty price tag. The color is a great peachy bronze shade that isn't cakey nor too light.

L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara, Carbon Black ($8.49): This is again another staple since high school. As many times as I have cheated on my beloved mascara, I always find my way back to Voluminous. They now have the carbon black which is my favorite color, with the curved brush :)
