110: Never Struggle with Copy Again — with Laura Belgray
Do you struggle to create copy that perfectly conveys your brand’s message? Do you wish you were able to tell your story in a way that captivates your customers? If you’ve ever found yourself staring blankly at your computer screen, hoping the right words would magically appear on the screen somehow, you’re not alone.
Today’s podcast guest knows this scenario all too well. In fact, she’s the queen of helping entrepreneurs and business owners overcome their writer’s block and create incredible content for their brands.
She also works with super successful organizations, like television networks and marketing agencies, to craft compelling content for their audiences. Additionally, she finds time to offer online courses such as The Copy Cure, and host in person seminars around the globe.
I’m referring to the amazing Laura Belgray, of course. You may know Laura from her online collaborations with Marie Forleo. Or, there’s a good chance you’ve heard one of her scripts she’s written for Joan Rivers, Kevin Hart, Spongebob Squarepants, or Vanessa Williams.
Laura teaches business owners how to truly be themselves in their copy and content, which is vital to being able to capture their ideal clients. She takes stuffy, formal ‘business’ messaging and infuses a brand’s personality into it. As she says, ‘the truth is, conversational is the new professional.’
Initially beginning her career in the online advertising field, Laura eventually transitioned to writing promos for VH1 (and then a huge slew of other networks including Bravo, NBC, HBO, Nickelodeon, TV Land, and many others). Today, she works with clients one-on-one to create business taglines, website sales copy, email newsletters and much more.
If you’re interested in hearing more about the key to successful copy, you’ll love today’s episode. Learn the biggest copy killers, the best thing you can do to capture the attention of your dream clients and much, much more.
In this episode, you’ll hear:
How to take your brand’s messaging from dull to captivating
The power of your email list (and why you should never, ever ghost them)
Why ‘professional’ business language doesn’t cut it anymore, and what really works for online copy
How she conquered her own writer’s block (and how you can, too)
Why trying to appeal to everyone with your messaging is a very bad idea (“the only thing that’s for everyone is oxygen, and that’s not a brand.”)
